We went to the 125th Anniversary party for the Brooklyn Bridge last night. I was reading up on the trivia today: "Originally referred to as the New York and Brooklyn Bridge, it was dubbed the Brooklyn Bridge in an 1867 letter to the editor of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, and formally so named by the city government in 1915."
The Builder of the Bridge Washington Roebling went to my college and I was reading up on his father, the designer of the bridge: John A. Roebling was enrolled at the Royal Polytechnic Institute in Berlin where he studied architecture and engineering. So both Roeblings went to different RPI's.
